“Oh, wow.” It has been a long time since I last thought of Joan Didion.

For a period of time, I thought of her a lot. She was always so cool, so calm. I first learnt of her during my creative writing classes at Harvard Extension School. We were given an excerpt of The Year of Magical Thinking. I did not pay much attention though. At that time, I was more intrigued by Neil Gaiman and his dark fairy tales.
